Have you ever have the thought of doing our part in preserving this wonderful environment that we live in right now? You most probably have but do not know where to begin.

You would most probably know the hugh amount of food waste that you and everybody produce each day, through the news and social media. 

"A study by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) found that Singapore households throw away around 26 000 tonnes- or S$342 million- in unconsumed food annually. Food waste accounts for about 10% of the tlotal waste generated in Singapore, but only 17% of this is recycled. The rest of it is disposed of at waste-to-energy plants for incineration." - Earth.org

I would also like to play my little part in helping to reduce the food waste footprint.

One of the ways is to decompose the waste into soil admendments which can serve as fertilizers to the plants. This is definitely good news for the growing community of plant lovers.

But can we do this from the comfort of our homes? Yes, we can.

With this in mind, I found an innovative product from FoodCycler. It is a small-scale food waste composter which seems easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain. It can be placed in our kitchen or any part of the home.

Simply put your food waste in the bucket inside the appliance and with a touch of a button, it can turn the waste into soil admendments within hours.

Information from the company website reveal that it can reduce the food waste volume/weight by as much as 90%.

Hence, I have started this campaign primarily to raise funds to purchase and evaluate this product. At the same time, to raise awareness that we can also do out part in preserving this environment and it may not cost as much time and effort as we may presume to be.

My role is to evaluate this product and provide updates. And to use it as a tool to educate more people and to introduce more possibilities to preserve our wonderful environment.
