Dear Friends, 

Summer is rapidly approaching, and for me, this May will be extra special, not only because I’m turning 16. I am so excited to share with you what God will be doing in my life in the coming months.

 Not only will I be graduating from in September, but in mid-May, I will be on a seven-day missions trip to Central America. Every year, the graduating class goes on a special trip where we serve those in need. This year I will be traveling with my classmates to the country of Nicaragua. I guess I will need to sharpen my Spanish skills!

I am writing you today to let you know about this trip, and to ask for your help. First, I’d really like to ask you to set aside time to pray for me in preparation for the trip and while I am there. Please pray for God’s protection on the entire team as well as His blessing on all that we do there. Pray that we reach many people with the Good News of His salvation.

Also, if possible, I would like to know if you would be willing to help me with the finances for this trip. The total cost is $1300, which covers the expenses for the airfare, food, lodging and donated items for impoverished families. Since we are responsible for raising the money ourselves, I am seeking 100 people who would be willing to contribute $13 each. However, any gift that you could make would be a big help to me, and I would sincerely appreciate it.

 These are some of the ministries I will be taking part in:

Bluebird House takes care of over seventy five disabled children who have been abandoned by their families. The facility not only acts a loving home for these children, but provides education and medical attention including physical therapy. While there, the students will interact with the children, performing skits and paint Biblical murals to brighten up their surroundings.  

Feeding the Children Most of the children in the barrios of Managua subsist on one meal a day. The students will partner with missionary Lincoln Wright who has provided sustenance to hundreds of children, both physically and spiritually. Lincoln provides breakfast for the students and an after school Bible study once a week divided by age group.  

Prison Ministry

In addition to his above ministries, Lincoln Wright goes into the prisons each Saturday and holds a worship session and Bible study. The prisoners are only allotted one small meal a day and rely on friends and family to bring them further assistance. Kat and her classmates will be able to share their faith and help out practically by painting an outside chapel the prison utilizes for services.  

 Cancer Hospital Children undergoing cancer treatment at the local hospital are unable to receive round the clock care and as such one family member stays with them at all times. The difference between the level of care they receive in Nicaragua in comparison with the United States is staggering. By praying and spending time with the patients and their families the  students will serve as a beacon of hope. 

 Medical Missions team Over the past two years, skilled doctors and nurses have attended the Nicaragua missions trip in order to distribute medical supplies and assistance to Calvary Chapel Santa Ana.   

Pastor Raul, "It is amazing to see the impact these trips will have on individuals who are taken out of their comfort zones, unplugged from their normal daily lives and placed within a third world country. There is a reward that comes from being able to share our faith and encourage others."

Missions Beyond Borders works closely with Pastor Cal Stuebner of Calvary Chapel Managua as well as Lincoln Wright who has been a missionary to Nicaragua for a decade and feeds over 300 children weekly!
