Dear friends of Wyatt:
As you may know, our wonderful friend, Wyatt, had a minor
accident with major complications back in mid December. He stepped off
a ladder and bent his foot in such a way that he injured himself
badly. He fractured the tip of a metatarsal bone and detached a
tendon. The injury was more complicated than expected at first and it
required that anchors be surgically inserted to reattach his tendon,
leaving Wyatt out of commission for nearly 9-12 weeks, required for a
proper recovery.
His insurance requires that he pay $9,800 out of pocket each
year, plus the unpredictable costs of future treatments, visits and
physical therapy. So far medical expenses have surpassed $29,000!
As things stand, no pun intended, he is unable to earn
a living because he is self-employed and as such, he does not have
worker's compensation. Wyatt is fine at home, getting as much rest as
possible, but he is understandably worried about riding this out
financially, as his hospital bills continue to mount. Wyatt is facing
perilous financial hardship, as he is unable to earn money to cover
living expenses alone.
Now, I hope that I don't need to remind you what an amazing
friend Wyatt is. I was in a similar position last year; my place
burned down, life gave me lemons, and Wyatt came to my aid without
question- we made lemonade! His support was invaluable to me, so I'm
starting this fundraising effort with the hope to reciprocate and
return the favor. After all, this is what friends are for, right?
What can you do to help? You can buy him a shot or two and toast
to his speedy recovery. More importantly, you can donate
