Roxxy could have been named Miracle Dog, because in her short life she has performed her share of them!  In 2011, she was rescued from the tough streets of Mexico. Miracle #1: even though she was beat up and starving she had managed to nourish and protect her pups (that were rescued with her, and now live in loving homes). Soon after Roxxy moved to British Columbia to live with us, her new human family, and enjoy what should have been the perfect dog's life; no worries or wants and lots of love from her humans. Instead, Roxxy continued to perform miracle after miracle by surviving three life threatening illnesses in as many years.  Roxxy started to lose weight during the fall of 2012, and thanks to some quick thinking and blood work she was properly diagnosed with ehrlichia, a tick born disease common in dogs in Mexico, but not Canada. Miracle #2: Roxxy survived the attack, and returned to her happy go lucky self.  The following winter Roxxy started to show signs of serious illness again.  She quit eating, and became lethargic.  Once again, Roxxy was poked and prodded by doctors who finally diagnosed her with not one, but TWO  serious health crises, kidney failure and pancreatitis.  Miracles #3 and #4: Roxxy pulled through, and is now on the road to a complete recovery.  It was not easy; she was hospiltalized for three days, on constant IVs, and will have to be on a restricted diet and medication for the rest of her (hopefully long) life. Roxxy is like a member of our family, so when she got sick we did whatever it took to get her better. That meant tests were given , office visits were made,  and lots of money was spent on her care, and will continue to be spent to keep her comfortable and healthy.  We are asking for help to give our furry family member every medical advantage in order to have her with us for years to come.  Thank you!
