The GVDF(Feline defense Volunteer Group)in spanish Grupo Voluntario de Defensa Felina area a group of miraflores residents who have.over the last 15 years worked to protect the 150 cats that are living in John F kennedy park.financing all cost without the help of any governmental or private instituttios.we have always promoted responsible care with respect to the cats in john f kennedy park(parque kennedy)assuring they are treated for parasites,vaccinated and where possible,given for adoption to caring and loving homes.

To date GVDF has found new homes for more than 800 cats and for the last ten years has organized adoption campaigns every weekend.these have been promoted through social networking sites television.

The GVDF looks for responsible people to adopt cats who must satisficy a number of criteria including permission for GVDF to visit their homes to verify their address.Sterilization(if the cat is not alredy neutered)and how the cat is being treated.

Cats have lived in parque kennedy for 20 year and there are actually two comunities:feral cats that have been born in the park and domestic cats that are abandoned on a daily basis.The latter are the focus of the GVDF´s Adoption campaigns.

Sadly these cats (and kittens,often a few weeks old)are all too frequently abandonen while pregnant,with broken legs,pneumonia and other injuries.Often they are so sick they require surgery,clinical treatment and then space in temporary homes until they bare healthy enought for adoption.

The feral population,while not suitable for adoption.need our care and attention.The GVDF counts on the support of 2 vets who offer their services at very reduced cost as their way or helping the volunteers.The cats in the park also need to be well fed to help them survive the rigors of an outdoor life:they required spome 18 kilos of canned and dried cat food every day.

The GVDF urgently need needs sponsor to cover the cost of food,veterinarys,bills,medical supplies etc.And we are reaching out to foreign NGO´S and tourist that come to peru to kennedy park.We just creation a new english facebook,for htey can see the work carried out by the volunteers with videos,photos and stories that we publish,receipts and bills for cost incurred by the GVDF wll also be posted so that all donors and sponsors can see how their money is being spent.
