Friends, super bass bud & overall wonderful human, Jenni Roberts, needs our support! More specifically, her mom Lauris needs support, as she is facing prohibitive costs for placement in a supportive living facility. We are aiming to raise $10,000 immediately to support Lauris' living facility costs, and, should there be any extra, the funds will help Jenni recoup some of the money she has already lovingly invested in Lauris' health journey.
Lauris lives with Alzheimer's, and she is currently in an acute geriatric psychiatric hospital after a recent decline in her well being. Until recently, she was in a day program where she was very happy; however, the personality disorder she also lives with was triggered by the newfound daily transition in and out of a day program, leaving her emotionally unregulated, and, on top of the challenges of Alzheimer's, and this created an unsafe environment for her at home. As a result, she's been in the geriatric psych hospital, where under 24/7 care, she is doing well! But due to the shortcomings of Alberta's healthcare system, the government is trying to send her back home swiftly, which, as noted, is not a safe environment for her. Both Jenni and Lauris' doctors and social worker agree that a supportive 24/7 living facility for seniors with Alzheimer's and related needs is the solution needed here, but an immediate placement in such a facility is costly.
