My father is a warrior. But this battle needs all of us.
In late 2024, our family received one of the most devastating pieces of news anyone can hear: my father was diagnosed with advanced-stage cancer. The diagnosis not only brought the emotional weight of facing such a cruel disease, but also the harsh reality that the cancer had already progressed to the point of causing metastasis, affecting his bones and severely limiting his mobility. Today, moving on his own is very painful for him, and he needs a wheelchair to get around with greater comfort and dignity.
What he faces every day
My father isn't only fighting cancer. He also lives with diabetes and high blood pressure, which makes his treatment even more complex and costly. Every month involves frequent medical appointments, follow-up tests and exams to monitor how his health is evolving, oncological medications and treatments for his other conditions, supplies such as test strips for his glucometer, and constant transportation to get him to all his consultations and treatments.
The tests don't lie
For those who wish to see the reality of what we are living through, I have attached both past and recent medical exams, which clearly show how the cancer has been progressing over time. It isn't easy to share something so intimate and painful, but we want to be completely transparent with everyone who is supporting us — because they deserve it, and because the situation is real and urgent.
The financial burden our family carries
Since receiving the diagnosis, we have devoted all of our resources to keeping his treatment active and uninterrupted. Expenses have accumulated month after month: medications, exams, transportation, medical supplies, and all the unexpected costs that a disease of this magnitude brings with it. Today we have outstanding debts from these months of struggle, and at the same time we must continue covering the expenses ahead, because the battle is not yet over.
