IRENE MWIKALI MUTUKU 13 years from Ngiini Primary school Kathiiani Sub-county Machakos county Kenya was one of the best pupils in the 2019 national exams and selected to join one of the best schools in the country. The parents from this particular area despite being poor do not support girl education and prefer the girl to either get married or go to work as a house helps in order to assist the family with money for food. Irene believes education as the only way to end poverty in the family and is requesting for any aid that can make her join her dream school, Machakos Girls High school. REVISED SCHOOL RULES AND REGULATIONS
SCHOOL MOTTO: SUCCESS IS DOING THE EXTRA
All students are expected to use COMMON SENSE at all time.
- The school programme runs from Monday to Sunday . All lessons and preps are compulsory. Every student must put maximum effort to academic achievement and must participate in all school activities.
- Every student is expected to be in tidy and correct full school uniform in school and outside on official duty. This includes weekends and public holidays. Uniform should NOT be tampered with, if this is done, the uniform will be confiscated and replaced by the parent immediately.
- Hair should be straight, combed back neatly and held back with a Plain Black Hairband/Ribbon only. Hair should not be dyed or plaited or curled, these will lead to cutting of the hair. All students must keep short nails. Nail varnish or henna must not be used.
- The official languages are English, Kiswahili and French. You must not use ‘Sheng”, vernacular or vulgar language in school. Offenders will be severely punished and /suspended
- Teachers, non-teaching staff and prefects must be obeyed instantly and respected by all students. Defiance of any kind is unacceptable and violation will lead to severe punishment or suspension.
- Students should give way to the teachers, non-teaching staff and visitors along paths and in the school compound. Students must walk on the foot paths not on the grass. Offenders will be severely punished.
- Students are not allowed to leave the school compound at any time without a leave out sheet or accompanied by a teacher. The student must report back to school at the time stated on leave out sheet. Talking to passers-by will be treated as leaving school without permission. Violation of this rule will lead to suspension or expulsion. All staff houses are out of bounds.
- Students must not talk to visitors without permission. Such students will be punished.
- There is no room for THIEVES in Machakos Girls’. Stealing will lead to two weeks’ suspension and the stolen items must be replaced.
- The school routine/activities e.g prep, cleaning, assemblies, games and club meetings Must be observed/done with absolute punctuality and promptness. Wasting time, loitering around etc will lead to punishment and /or suspension.
- Each student must belong and register for one club, one religious movement and a sporting activity.
- Total silence must be maintained at all times. Shouting and screaming will not be tolerated. Offenders will be severely punished.
- Attendance of classes, and completion of all assignments and examinations is compulsory for all students failure to which a student will be suspended.
- Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in cancellation of examination results and severe punishment. Students should be honest and work hard at all times. All cases of misconduct must be reported failure to which the student will be suspended.
- Fighting, bullying and threats instilling fear or any other acts of intimidation are not acceptable and will lead to suspension and /or expulsion from school.

- School property MUST be respected. Vandalism and graffiti will not be tolerated and students will be liable for all repairs and /or replacement costs arising from damage of school property.
- All students eat food provided by the school and no extra food should be brought to school. No cooked food and forbidden food stuff should be left behind after school functions e.g. parents’ meeting or open days. No SPECIAL diet can be offered. Violation of this will lead to severe punishment or suspension.
- All students while on outings should walk and work as a team. Possession and use of unauthorized drugs such as alcohol or tobacco products among others is strictly prohibited in the school compound; school functions or trips. Violation of this rule will lead to suspension and consequently expulsion. All medicine prescribed by a doctor must be declared and surrendered to the school Matron/Nurse. Students must not keep any MEDICINE.
- Electronics such as Mobile phones, sim cards, cameras, radios, CD,s,VCD,s and dangerous items such as screwdrivers, knives are strictly forbidden in school. Possession of these items will lead to suspension or expulsion.
- All pocket money should be deposited with the Boarding Mistress or dormitory mistress or school clerk and then students may withdraw in small amounts. The school will not be held responsible for any monies stolen from dormitory or classroom. Parents are advised not to give students excess money.
- Any student with history of Indiscipline will not be allowed to participate in any outing (academic or co-curricular).
- As a student of Machakos Girls’ High School always strive to uphold the positive image of the school and leave the school a better place than you found it.
