Bella came to me in late February, nearly choking to death when a
collar was discovered embedded into her neck. She was also very
pregnant and sick due to an infection caused by the collar. Her
attempts to get it off had caused many lesions on her skin around and
under the collar and she was placed on antibiotics for a week when I
took her to the vet the next day.
On March 1st she gave birth to
five beautiful kittens, 3 females, 2 males. Sadly, one of the male
kittens passed away the day after birth. The other 4 are thriving and
turned 2 months old on May 1st.
This coming Friday (May 4th),
Bella and the kittens will be moving to their forever home. However,
I am retaining full responsibility for them and still need to get
Bella spayed and the kittens vaccinated. The kittens will also need
to be spayed and neutered in the coming months. They will also
require food on a regular basis and litter among other supplies as it
becomes necessary.
A friend of mine has agreed to keep them at
her home, where they will become indoor cats and be allowed to live
out their lives and not be locked in my kennel or cage constantly. I
feel this is unfair to them as they have a natural need to explore and
run free. It is not safe for them to do this outdoors due to
predatory wildlife and other dangers. I only have my kennel and cages
to shelter them and with their growing need to play, run and explore,
being confined to a kennel is grossly unfair to them. It was great
while they were newborns and too small to run around but now that they
are getting bigger, they need more space.
My friend can provide
this for them in a much safer environment. I am committed to their
continued care by providing her with the food and supplies needed to
keep them at her home and pay for vet costs as necessary.
Bella
is set to be spayed on May 15th. It will be done at the low cost spay
and neuter clinic but she will also have her shots done then as well.
This will roughly cost about $150 and it is imperative that I have the
cash up front for them to do the surgery and vaccinations.
