Nepal has been hit by a massive earthquake followed by powerful aftershocks. Tens of thousands are camping in makeshift tents. There is shortage of food, blankets, drinking water. A British citizen is working on the ground providing urgently needed help.

We raised over £12,000 through this page. However, to avoid high commission fees we moved the donations to our own website.

The cause

Nepal was hit by the worst earthquake in 81 years. Death toll is over 7500 and still rising, 14,500 are injured. Worst-hit remote village areas are hard to reach. In Kathmandu thousands are camping outdoors in makeshift tents for fear of powerful aftershocks. There is lack of food, clean drinking water, blankets and medications.

A friend of mine, Beth is a British citizen running the popular Secret Garden Guesthouse in Kathmandu. In the aftermath of the earthquake she is working around the clock helping people in the neighborhood. She needs money to buy rice, medications, blankets.

Why Beth?

By donating directly to Beth you are skipping multiple levels of NGO bureucracy, high NGO expat salaries, marketing-overhead, slow and corrupt Nepalese government.

Beth has been living in Nepal for a few years. She is the owner of a popular guesthouse in Kathmandu. Beth has the local knowledge and extensive local contacts.

You can follow our updates on our Facebook page.

------

Internet and phone service in Nepal has been badly hit. It is hard for Beth to get online. As a result, this page was set up on behalf of Beth by photographer Andrius Mazeika.
