What is the Everywhen Project?
The Everywhen Project is a radical social experiment in creating multi-year reusable art structures for the purpose of sharing multiple narratives on possible pasts, presents and futures.
By having the voice of multiple artists and contradictory perspectives, we strive to share many points of views on the origin of humankind and discover how facts, mythologies, motifs and cultural histories can create engaging stories that form the basis of transformative art experiences.
The Temple of Everywhen
As the third iteration of our elemental temple series, we are bringing The Temple of Everywhen to UnSCruz, a Burning Man regional in Watsonville, California, and Burning Man, the largest temporary art gallery on the planet, at the Black Rock Desert in Nevada.
The intent of the Temple of Everywhen is to demand an exploration of the meaning of life and human history through a controversial retelling of stories, by inducing a psychedelic experience of ancestral archetypes and a journey through the senses. We hope to evoke an introspection of metaphysical and celestial realities and one’s relationship with the outer and inner universes. The Temple will present a unified story of humanity’s collective past and present through all cultures, leaving one to speculate about possible futures. We encourage discussion of the nature of reality and our true history by blending shared fables and myths with art from the collective consciousness.
Creating Dynamic and Interactive Spaces
The Everywhen Crew are comprised of artists, builders and dreamers who believe in the importance of creating spaces where one can be introspective and interact with others, if they choose to do so. Many are veterans of building Temples at Burning Man and its regionals, and wants to carry on the tradition of creating a sacred space within the Burning Man regional network and out on the playa. As Temple spaces have many different meanings, the Temple of Everywhen will reflect the myriad of interpretations and have many levels of interactivity.

Beyond the art gallery that will be installed within the space (metal rose garden, panoramic murals, and a functional armillary), the crew and community have a number of programs planned for the courtyard space:
- Energy clearing
- Transformation ceremonies
- Sound healing
- Instructor-led yoga with earth sounds
- Narrative therapy
- Earth rituals
We will work with the community to build an exciting event calendar to make certain the Temple of Everywhen is always an interesting destination.

Why we need your help
Our team has applied to be honoraria at Burning Man and the UnSCruz regional. However, even at maximum funding, we have been asked to work with the art community to raise a portion of our funds. We are 100% volunteers with a vision to create a transformative experience at multiple locations.
This art piece will not burn, and it will have a multi-year life. Many participants at Burning Man and regionals find beautiful art, and lament its temporal nature and destruction; some wish that the experience can be extended beyond the playa, while others express concern at the ecological impact of single-use art that is burned.
As such, we are conducting a radical social experiment within a social experiment: a reusable art piece that will grow in complexity over the years as more and more artist contribute into expanding its footprint, its appearance, and populate the courtyard space with more pieces. In a nutshell, we kick off this project with a Temple space, with the goal of forming an art village and gallery space over time.
We have consciously selected material and hardware with a mind toward reusability, sustainability, quality and cost. As this is a multi-year project, we are using building techniques that allows the structure to be built, dismantled, and rebuilt without impacting the integrity and safety of the building. While we wish these materials are free, there are costs associated with the construction:
- Logistics: transportation and fuel
- Materials: hardware (nuts, bolts, fasteners), wood (higher-quality lumber that can be reused), paint (to make this stunning)
- Green Infrastructure: solar panels (to reduce consumables and harness the power of our local star)
- Infrastructure & Leaving no Trace: build site infrastructure to prevent leaving a trace on playa (build stations, tarps, magnetic rakes, containers to transport matter-out-of-place (MOOP) out of the playa).
Everywhen at the UnSCruz Burning Man Regional
Since UnSCruz is a much shorter event than Burning Man, the Everywhen Temple will be optimized for building in a compressed construction window.
Everywhen Plan for the UnSCruz Regional
The Temple building will measure, from wall to wall, 15' x 25' and features a 5' overhang around the entire structure. The roof will be framed, and instead of cladding the roof with structural materials, it will feature a patch-work quilted tent-like roof made from upcycled fabric.
