The River Louten FUND
River Daniel Louten was born on September 29, 2009 in Harpswell, Maine.
In late June our family discovered that he has bone marrow failure. River has struggled with both severe eczema and allergies since he was three months old. Yet just as his body seemed to be finding balance, we are now faced with the new challenge that his body is no longer making enough bone marrow. As a result River has been receiving weekly platelet transfusions.
After meeting with numerous physicians, we have been told that this could be a long medical journey. A cure is possible. He will need to continue to go through blood transfusions, immunosuppression therapy, and at last resort a bone marrow transplant. We are deeply saddened by this turn of events. Yet, as his parents we realize we are his strength and his light. Therefore, we are picking ourselves up and running toward a cure every day. We are filled with hope and know that this strong little boy can make it to the other side of wellness again. It will take a village to support us in this venture. We will need love and laughter, and yes extra finances.
