Like the Nike slogan, “Just Do It”, I thought I could do anything in this world if I believed in it. Four years ago, the acceptance letter from my dream school – New York University – supported my beliefs. However, God loved me so much that He allowed me to go through a humbling experience that changed my life forever. After attending NYU for a year, I had to withdraw from the school that I idolized due to a difficult financial situation. Through this time, I came to lay down the deepest insecurities to God from every corner of my heart. The deeply rooted walls of pride and self-centeredness started shredding down. Reflecting back, I can now gladly say that God’s way is a mysterious yet beautiful one. Despite the heartache and suffering - including my father passing away when I was nine, to leaving the school I dreamed of - I realized that God is in control, no matter how weak I am. Because of this tough life that He's given me, I am eternally grateful to know God who was, is, and is to be good. God continues to reveal Himself to me in the most surprising ways. This summer, He opened the doors to the wonderful opportunity to serve with Wycliffe, a renowned missions organization, at the U.S. headquarters in Orlando, Florida. The vision of Wycliffe is to see bible translation in progress in every language group by the year of 2025. There are still about 350 million people out there who don't have a verse of scripture in their own language. Orlando Summer Internship (WSI) will give me an opportunity to see first-hand what’s involved in bible translation and where I fit in. Once in Orlando, I will be involved in leadership classes and have the opportunities to practice sharing my faith in the community. My trip is scheduled for June 3rd through August 10th, 2012. Before this trip takes place, I need to trust God to provide a team of prayer and financial partners who will stand with me. The cost of the trip is $3,000, which includes room and board as well as all program costs while in Orlando. I am expected to have the balance by the beginning of the internship, May 31st. Even though finances are very important, what I’ll need most are prayer partners. I would like to ask you to please pray for me at this moment−before you finish this letter.
