On November 24th, 2010, Moujik was run over by a car while with a dog walker and suffered a MAJOR "de-gloving" injury on his front left leg. Much of the flesh on the forearm was removed by the tire, leaving exposed bone, and tissue damage. For the first month and a half, we had to go to the veterinary hospital for daily bandage changes which could only be done by a surgeon, and for which Moujik had to be sedated (daily). He was also on Fentanyl, which was administered by patch on an ongoing basis, and many other costly medications such as morphine and tramadol for pain, and heavy antibiotics such as Clavamox, Baytril, and Rimadyl. Just since November 24th, 2010, I have accrued over $8,000 in debt for Moujik's Veterinary care. Though Moujik's condition has much improved, but we are not "Out of the Woods" yet. Though his leg has healed significantly, we are still waiting for enough granular skin to grow over the wound to make him eleigible for a skin graft. This operation, I have been told by the veterinary hospital, is in the ballpark of $3000-$6000. And if the skin graft is not successful, we still may have to amputate the limb completely which will cost another sevral thousand dollars.
