Hi, I’m Nicola.
My husband and I are the proud, devoted parents of two incredible boys: AJ and Josiah.
We made the life-changing decision to move our family from Jamaica to the United States for one reason: to save our sons. Back home, the specialized medical care they desperately need simply wasn’t available. Since arriving, we have seen massive improvements in their health, and we are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure they continue to heal and grow.
Meet AJ & Josiah
Our eldest, AJ, is a true warrior. He is medically complex and has undergone several major procedures since we arrived. In 2024, he had hip surgery, and just last year March, he underwent a significant operation to receive a G-tube, alongside dental surgery. He is currently a patient at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where he receives expert primary and specialist care.
Our toddler, Josiah, is just as brave. He also underwent surgery last year at BMC and continues to be monitored by their wonderful team.
Our Current Challenge
While our boys’ health is improving, our housing situation has been incredibly difficult. We have been living in the shelter system since last year. On April13 , we faced the terrifying reality of being unhoused for several hours before luckily being rehoused back into a shelter.
Despite these hurdles, our goals remain firm:
Consistent Medical Care: Ensuring AJ and Josiah never miss an appointment or treatment.
Education: Keeping our boys in school so they can reach their full potential.
Stable Housing: Finding a permanent, safe home for our family.
How You Can Help
We are hard workers and want to provide for our children. We create and sell gift baskets, handmade soaps, and body oils. However, living in a shelter makes it difficult to run a business.
We are raising funds to:
Restore Wi-Fi Service: This is vital so we can manage our business from home, reach customers, and generate a steady income.
Business Supplies: To help us restock materials for our soaps and gift baskets.
Daily Essentials: To cover the costs of transportation to BMC and basic needs for the boys while we navigate our way to stable housing.
