Hey everyone,

The past year’s been a challenging one for LCRW and we need help getting back on track. This time last year I was struggling to come out of long covid. In March, I caught covid again and a couple months later my car gave up the ghost for good. Through all of that, the outlet’s been hit by declining donations. All this means less chance for me to pay my writers the little I’ve been able to pay them, therefore less coverage, less donations and the cycle continuing downward.

LCRW used to be my full-time job, but I sadly can’t say that anymore. I’m working part time to make ends meet and to help pay my writers. It’s meant even less time at my desk or out in the field. I’d like that to change. A big part of what drives support for LCRW is my ability to go out and report myself and support my reporters in the field. To that end, I’m opening a fundraiser to help get a down payment on a working car. I’d like to raise at least $2000 by the end of December.

2024 is an election year. It looks like Trump’s getting the nomination. You know what we’re in for, even if he doesn’t win and you know it needs to be reported. We want to be on the ground as much as we can next year. And for that, I need wheels. We’ll have stickers and posters to give away to anyone who can contribute. Just message me with a receipt.
