Jillian Pratt hasn't added a story.
I know you don't know me and that I don't know you. But that would never stop me from caring about you or treating you in the best way possible. Never has. Never will.
I have been waiting a long time to fight a wrong that happened to me. I was a nurse and a whistleblower against unfair and illegal actions by the hospital I was contracted with and my staffing company. My former company made a retaliatory complaint, an outright lie no less to the Arizona State board of nursing. I was living in California and working in California. Mind you what they've done to me they've done to hundreds of other nurses that have worked for them. They have a pattern of this abuse and I did not know it at the time.
And since my license was expired in Arizona I did not update my address and they could not get a hold of me. My phone number and email didn't change so I learned from an investigator two weeks before a hearing about my case was to happen.
From CA, I scrambled to get a lawyer in AZ. I could not get the best ones, because of the short time that I had to find one. They were full of clients themselves. They simply weren't available. The lawyer I did find committed many acts of negligence, extortion and incompetence. He was ineffective and he eventually quit. He never bothered to correct all errors in the complaint made to me by the board of nursing. He wouldn't argue about the unfair orders that they were trying to subject me to. When they said they would provide him information with how I could have complete these orders they never gave it to him and he never pointed that out. I was never able to complete the orders that they wanted me to because of this. And he quit the same day that the board of nursing in Arizona notified him that my trial was coming up. He received this notification. And since all communications are going through my lawyer at the time I did not receive that communication.
The day he quit, he notified me in an email that he was quitting. But he never told me that the board of nursing had contacted him about my trial date coming up that next month. I was never made aware of this by anybody. Couple that with the fact that I was non-compliant with the orders that I could not even try to begin to do, it would have been an uphill battle with representation. But I didn't even go because I didn't know, I learned in May 2017 that my license was revoked that January. That's when it was finally posted online and I had no idea.
This led to an automatic loss of my California license. When you lose your professional occupational license you are ousted from basically working in anything that you've ever trained for. I couldn't even be a janitor at a hospital if I wanted to. I can't work anywhere that takes any kind of money or payment from the government with regards to Medicare or health and human services. Not even as a secretary. I'm basically banned from working in the industry that I know, that I am educated in.
Subsequently my life spiraled downhill. I became partially blind in both eyes from contact lenses that injured me. I broke my knee and I got surgery. I got septic in the hospital and died for 97 seconds. I was told I'm not ready yet it's not my time, I watched myself float back into my own body. I was diagnosed with autism something I suspected I had. This led to me being the black sheep of the family, losing all support. I became homeless and started living in my car.
I tried to help out somebody who had MRSA wounds. They returned their gratitude and by manipulating me, leading to awful abuse towards me and my dog for a year and a half. Raped. Burned. Drugged. Robbed. He dismantled my car piece by piece from under the hood without telling me and my car couldn't drive. He isolated me and had people watch me when he wasn't around, so I couldn't escape. He eventually was put in federal prison.
I have a housing choice voucher now and I'm going to be in an apartment soon. Yay
The revocation noticed by the board of nursing had my name in croakly spilled that was an insult to injury. But I had the possibility that in 5 years I could seek reinstatement. 5 years happened last year.
I can easily prove my case to a lawyer. And I know exactly which one I'm going to have represent me, he is fantastic in front of the board of nursing. Turning this around in Arizona, I can then easily turn it around in California. Then the final hurdle of going to the national practicioner database and having my name removed from the list. That's three legal fights but it all comes down to Arizona first.
The positive impact of helping to get me reinstated is that in turn it'll help exponentially hundreds of thousands of people. Maybe it could be you or one of your loved ones. I worked in the ER, ICU, wound care certified, legal nurse consultant, and medical device educator.
While I was a nurse, my impact reached all over America. And every nurse that I educated with device tips and tricks, was passed down exponentially to all of their future employees and patients. Reducing infections. Saving hospitals money. Keeping hospitals open versus being closed due to lack of funding for Medicare. I helped to save two hospitals in LA county that we're going to lose funding and would have to close down because they had too many reported infections. They turned it around and got ranked near the top the next year.
I'm always happy to share my experience. I will update my progress as it (hopefully) moves forward. Helping me will help save lives. Including my own. Thank you.
