Evan Higgins hasn't added a story.
On October 24, Penn State students peacefully assembled in front of
the Thomas Building to protest the danger of a white terrorist
organization on campus. Penn State leaders had given permission for
the founder of a white terror street gang known as the Proud Boys to
speak on campus. Several police agencies with hundreds of officers,
including mounted police and crowd control units, were deployed to
suppress the student-protesters. While peacefully demonstrating,
student-protesters were attacked by Proud Boy members who were seen
shoving and pepper-spraying dozens of Penn State students.
One student-protester, Bram Woolley, was unjustly singled-out and unfairly arrested by police. Witnesses have shared that when mounted police and crowd control units arrived on scene, they cordoned off Bram from the crowd of other student-protesters. Police then unfairly arrested Bram and charged him with three misdemeanors of disorderly conduct, failure to disperse, and defiant trespress. These charges are not only unfounded but excessive, punitive, and retaliatory. It is also unconscionable that police witnessed Proud Boy members assault students but did nothing to stop or arrest these white supremacists provocateurs. It appears University police ignored the blatant violence of the Proud Boys while targeting Penn State student-protesters.
In response to this injustice, Bram needs assistance paying for
an attorney to defend him in upcoming criminal and university
proceedings, and possible other expenses that could arise. Bram stood
up for all of us by protesting white supremacists on our campus. We
must now stand up for Bram in his time of need. It is our hope that
the DA's office and university officials will quickly drop these
charges against Bram so he can return to focusing on his studies at
Penn State.
