My name is Shelley Watts. I have lived in Navarro County for over 30 years. I was referred to John Brown (Master Hair Stylist), probably almost 20 years ago. He's since been my "go to" person when I wanted the best haircut available in Corsicana. Along the way, we have become friends. He was the first person to ever tell me about Hubbard Cowboy Church, where my husband and I have attended since the first day we walked in there, about 12 years now. I will be forever grateful to John for that. John and I always meet each other with a hug, and leave each other with a hug and a "love you".
On March 23, 2021, John drove himself to the hospital while having a heart attack, and was then transported to Waco by ambulance. The next day, on the 24th, he had triple bypass surgery. That night, he flat-lined, but was brought back in time to avoid brain injury. Due to unknown complications, he was completely unconscious for around 11 days. It was a scary time for John as he slowly gained consciousness and he had no understanding or comprehension when people told him how long he had been there. From the best of my knowledge, it was about 18-19 days before he finally comprehended what he was being told and remembered what he'd been through. On April 12th, he was moved into a regular room, after 20 days in ICU! The goal now is to get him out of the hospital and into a rehabilitation facility.
John had just recently begun to recover financially from the Covid shutdown. Now, he has had no income for over 3 weeks, and it will likely be many more weeks before he can return to work. As a person who has been self-employed most of my life, I personally understand the concept of trying to survive financially without the ability to work. John is going to need a lot of help to keep up with his living expenses. He will hopefully be able to get some assistance with his astronomical medical expenses. The funds raised here will go directly to John to be used for what he considers priority. The funds raised here are strictly a GIFT, from you, through me, to John. When possible, I will give him the full amount donated and absorb any fees myself.
John's prognosis is good, and his physicians expect a full recovery, but it's going to take a lot of time. John has a big heart and a huge love of God, the State of Texas, and his Country. Any amount you can donate will be appreciated, every penny counts.
