Superman…..his four-ounce body is broken and fragile, but his soul is made of steel. Living under a porch, he withstood the rains, the heat, the insects, predators, and the hunger and thirst…..you see the vet believes his back is broken. Trembling, he would use his front legs to drag himself. He waited and he prayed that a hero would come…. if he could only hold on.

His three brothers would nuzzle him, curling their own tiny bodies around his to protect him. Perhaps they knew how fragile he was and refused to let him fade away. Perhaps some of his strength came from their love.

Half the Way Home saw his picture and heard his story and despite being on intake hold from a crazy kitten season, we knew one thing: we had to give this brave soul a chance. So, we rolled up our sleeves and arranged for an 8-hour transport to get him from Florida to us.

But his condition is even worse than we fear. He is at the vet’s now. Four ounces, flea infested and severely malnourished and dehydrated, he has what we believe is coccidia. He is once again fighting for his life. He is receiving flea meds, dewormer, fluids, antibiotics and love. Once stable, he will be transported here to us where our vet will create a treatment plan for his broken back.
