My name is Jacob Miller. I am 19 years old and have been involved in an admit ably avoidable situation which has left me with a feeling of regret and betrayal. It involves an incident regarding my two "friends" and I, marijuana, my car, and the placing of blame all on my shoulders. The police told me that if I passed the field sobriety tests, that I would be able to go home. I passed them with flying colors but, come to find out, my friends told them that I had hid the illegal substance in the trunk. I took the L for the team and I was the only one that went to jail.On November 4th, 2014 I applied for a public defender but was denied and now have been given eight weeks to get my own lawyer. If I don't come up with the money...jail time. It has been very stressful at my house because I work on $7.30 an hour and I have to help my mom pay bills due to her being out of work for 6 months from a critical injury. I have been given a schedule of payment to follow: $500 by January 2nd, $500 by February 2nd, and $500 by March 2nd. Plus $300 for DUI school and a $100 drug evaluation. Unfortunately, some friends aren't there for you when it comes to real situations and I have realized that I need to make better judgement calls about multiple things. I am asking for help so that I can stay out of jail and stay on the path that I have created for myself with my new job and positive outlook on the future.
