A letter from Dominique, Wayne Brown's son:
Dear Family,
It pains me to greet you under such weary circumstances. I hope this letter finds everyone in a positive and hopeful place. To get right to it, I am currently residing at Northern Neck Regional jail in Warsaw, VA. I have been here since July 8, 2016 after I was convicted in Circuit Court on three charges (as well as three traffic violations). Shortly after I got here I called someone I would have called a "friend" and asked if he would loan me the money that my lawyer needs, to appeal my case. His reply was that "the money is here" but he further began to counsel me on whether I should accept the legal advice of the lawyer that had just lost my original case. We began arguing on the phone and haven't spoken since.
It is of my opinion that I was not convicted based on black and white law, but due to affiliation. In court, the music group that I manage was mentioned as well as references to Youtube videos I've published. Keep in mind, my arrest was based off of a traffic stop turned illegal search. As I humbly asked my "friend" for his help to no avail before, it is a much larger humility pill to ask the help of you guys. My lawyer originally asked for $12,000 to take on my case. Preceding my court date of July 8, 2016. I paid $9000.00 of that balance and agreed to squash the balance by September of this year. Due to my incarceration I have lost my job but can more than likely get it back upon my release. My lawyer is asking for the $3000.00 balance, plus an additional $12,000.00 to handle my appeal case but needs it all up-front. This is not a request for a handout, but a LOAN. The order in which donations are received , I can repay the balance back to family members on a month to month basis upon my release and reemployment. I am set to be sentenced on October 7, 2016 , afterwhich I have 30 days to appeal or endure the sentence. My charges carry a mandatory minimum of 5 year sentence. I have the option to waive my sentencing and locking in my sentencing guidelines pending a loss of my appeal. This would need to be done before October 7 .
I understand that we all have families, lifestyles and responsibilities. I also understand, as innocent or guilty as I may be in this situation, I had a choice to completely avoid it becoming anything more than a routine traffic stop. I'll accept the lectures from any and everyone upon my release, but as for now; I only ask for a yes or no as to whether or not you can help me with this loan. There will be no hard feelings held against anyone who chooses to decline. Any lawyers in the family are not only free to but encouraged to request the case information to overview it for second opinions. Thank you all for listening. I love you all,
