MAIL CARRIER WANTS TO STAMP OUT YOGA!
Have you ever heard of a sick, heavyset cat chasing a mailman an entire city block? The Stone Family hadn’t either…until now.
THE CAT-ASTROPHIC INCIDENT
What follows could result in the death of Yoga the cat. Here’s what happened.
The Stone Family stopped receiving mail for several days only to discover their mail carrier had issued a complaint to the postmaster stating he had been, “savagely attacked by a violent cat and sent running for a city block fearful for his life twice while in front of the Stone’s home.” The postmaster also stated, “There are many documented accounts of domesticated cats attacking, overpowering, and killing grown men in the street.”
A POSTMASTER WHO PEPPER SPRAYS CATS???
Things got even stranger when the Stone Family visited the local
postmaster who was unapologetic that she had stopped their mail
without notice. The postmaster was adamant that she had to support her
carrier because, as she reiterated, “as everyone knows, grown men are
attacked and even killed by domestic cats all the time.”
She also admitted that because the carrier was too terrified to
return to the block, that she, herself, delivered the mail – but she
came armed with pepper spray, ready to shoot down the first cat she
saw. The family explained that Yoga was inside the entire day of the
attack, but that meant nothing to the postmaster and her
feline-fearing employee. Yoga was guilty – never to be proven innocent.
WHO IS YOGA THE CAT?
Yoga is a people-friendly rescue cat with many health issues. When the mood strikes and his health permits, Yoga likes to take the occasional amble in the yard - he is not an outdoor cat and his outings are fully supervised. Yoga is also substantially overweight and not capable of chasing anyone, anywhere. Mostly, Yoga likes to sleep which would be your favorite pastime too if you had to deal with his health issues.
WHAT’S AT STAKE?
Accusations like this have resulted in other pets in the area being
put down. The Stone Family has limited means and they have already
taken steps to defend their precious family member. But more is needed.
The Stone’s friend and neighbor, Jack Wilson, and author/animal
welfare advocate Thomas Hapka launched this crowdfund to help raise
the funds needed to protect Yoga.
Will you #Deliver4Yoga?
Yoga’s life is still in danger and the distraught Stone Family needs your support.
- LEGAL EXPENSES: The family needs to retain an attorney to protect themselves and Yoga, as other local families have been sued for damages or had their cherished pets confiscated and destroyed because of similar encounters with postal employees. This retainer will cost $1,000.
- MAILBOX: After 53 years, the Stone’s had to install a mailbox as far from their house as possible to protect Yoga. The costs reached $300 when workers installing a post for the new box hit several layers of solid rock.
- SECURITY: The Stone’s were legally advised they will need to install a security camera to document the comings and goings of postal employees to their property in the event of future allegations. This will cost $600.
- VETERINARY EXPENSES: Yoga has many health issues, including kidney issues, a metabolic disorder that is causing his drastic weight gain, and FIV (also known as the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) which is dangerously weakening his immune system. Yoga needs integrative veterinary care, and this could cost as much as $2,000.
