BEANIE'S MIRACLE
~Giving a difficult to place dog a second chance at life~

Bean has been loved all of her life. She has been given so many gifts by those who love her for her 5 years of life. Bean's care has not come without it's challenges for her family. Bean suffers from anxiety and fear that dog experts see often in different severities. Sometimes this comes from a life experience, sometimes it is a genetic factor and sometimes it is both. Bean and her family are my long time friends. They are wonderful, loving, caring and have worked so hard to make life for Bean work. But with an increase in her anxiety and fear and things Bean cannot handle in her environment her home is ever becoming an unsafe place for Bean.

My name is Rebecca and I am reaching out to everyone to help someone I love. That someone is Bean & her family. Bean is a 5 year old mixed breed whose mom came to me in need of help with Bean. Over the years Bean's mom has done everything in her power, gone above and beyond her means, overextended herself, practiced extreme patience and fought harder and longer than most people ever would have for a dog. But Bean is not "just a dog".

Bean is a living being who suffers every day with anxiety the way humans do. Only, as a dog Bean has only her instinctual outlets in which to express this fear and anxiety and cannot speak to tell us what she needs. Her humans have come to a crossroads in life where they have come to the unbearable and heartbreaking decision to admit that they can no longer provide what Bean needs and that she can no longer life safely or happily in their home.

Those of us who love our dogs know what a painful and difficult thing it is to even contemplate the loss of our animal family members. For Bean's family it is no different. As they prepare for a happy future with a baby on the way their lives have been frozen in this moment of sadness and heartbreak as they struggle with how to move forward with the life of their first baby. Euthanasia is a decision that many have never had to face, and one that those of us who have faced the decision know how incredibly impossible it is a decision to make. For Bean's family they pray for another option.

As I sat here in NY and talked with Bean's family tonight in MI I struggled myself and cannot hold back the tears for this dog I know and who let me into her life - a difficult task for sure and for her pet parents whom I know because of Bean and her brother and who I have come to love as family too. I know that it would be near impossible to re-home Bean with her issues unless it were with an experienced and willing adopter.

There is a glimmer of hope for Bean to live out the rest of her life. Not in an environment where she is confined, feels trapped and afraid and cannot thrive, but free to run and play like a dog every day for the rest of her life. For those of you who remember and followed the story of Dolly almost 4 years ago that hope is Spirit Animal Sanctuary and it is their hope for Beanie. The cost of admission is no small fee and for Bean's parents it is unreachable alone.

So, as a friend and someone who loves both Bean and her family dearly I am reaching out to as many of you as I can for even the smallest donation for the hope of a future for Bean, a dog I love. This plea for help is not an invitation for judgement or criticism as the entire story is one that only we know. Please, those of you who love your dogs and want to help a family who wants to save their dog's life, please donate to Bean's miracle.

Admission to SAS is not cheap but it is worth it for a place I have worked with before and know will take and care for Beanie for the rest of her life. The admission fee of $5000 will cover the first few years of her life at the sanctuary.
