Lucy Faclc hasn't added a story.

In March of this year, a group of concerned animal lovers risked their safety and freedom by protesting and forming a human blockade to prevent the passage of a flat bed truck crammed full of over 900 dogs en route to a slaughter house. The activists quickly found that the dogs were being transported in the most abhorrent conditions possible, with most near death. Pictures were posted online and a call to action was sounded across the country. Soon activists and volunteers came pouring from all over the country to take part in what would soon become the largest animal rights movement in Chinese history. Those who took part in the rescue faced violence, threats and other abuses from the sadistic animal traders and underground network of thugs. After three sleepless days of continuous protest and conflict, these brave activists were able to rescue and take possession of all the dogs (with the exception of approximately 30 dogs that had died due to the terrible conditions of the truck). Most all of the dogs were, however, grievously sick or wounded and required immediate medical care. Donations from all over the country allowed for the dogs to be placed in shelters and to receive the medical care that they desperately needed.

Please read the rescue story here: http://www.dogheirs.com/lucybrucey/posts/2886-animal-rights-activisits-in-china-are-fighting-for-the-lives-of-927-dogs and here http://www.ultraculture.org/dog-meat-trade-attacked-by-chinese-activists/

The victory of that day was a great moment for animal rights in China. The victory, however, lasted only for an instant as the very next day new photos surfaced showing more trucks with thousands more dogs in cities across the country. Rescue efforts sprang up in each of these locations. Some were successful; some were not. In each case, activists and volunteers risked all that they had to save the dogs from an agonizing, tortuous end. Rescue efforts continue to be in progress all across the country as more and more Chinese people wake up to the cause of animal rights. There now exists true momentum in the country as this time, and the world must capitalize on it to make permanent changes to how animals are treated in China.

As new rescue efforts are beginning on a nearly daily basis, the sparse number of animal shelters existent in China are being overwhelmed with new animals in desperate need of help. These shelters are small operations born out of the passion and caring hearts of dedicated individuals, many of which have hundreds of animal residents at one time. Donations are desperately needed to not only keep these shelters running, but to also help them to expand and modernize to meet the demands of a fast growing rescued animal population.

The FACLC Facebook page began with two goals: to share the victories, tragedies and stories that are making up this nascent animal rights movement in China; and to unite people from across the world with these brave activists as they fight to ensure a better future for animals in China. The incredible outpouring of support that has come from around the world has warmed the hearts and fortified the resolve of the brave individuals who are fighting right now to save animals. We have set up this fundraising campaign to give the world outside of China a way to directly influence the outcomes of the rescues.
All funds collected will be carefully disseminated to shelters directly involved in the rescue efforts documented on our Facebook page. In addition, every dollar will be fully and publicly accounted for on the same page so that you can see how your donations are helping to make China a kinder, more humane place for all animals.

Love and respect,

FACLC
