Amira is the head of a Hazara refugee family from Afghanistan, now living in Quetta, Pakistan. She had to marry at a young age and raised her children alone after her husband's death. Amira has led the family through the hardships of refugee life with dignity and ensured that all her children have received the education that was once denied to her.
A few months ago, a tumour was discovered in Amira's thyroid. It's a devastating diagnosis for a refugee family, not least because they have no access to a health insurance or any other financial support. The older children are struggling to find work in an environment hostile towords refugees and some of them are dealing with their own health issues.
Through personal efforts and with help from a previous fundraiser, we managed to fund a thyroid removal surgery. The surgery was successful, but unfortunately it turned out that the tumour had already spread. Amira is currently undergoing radiation therapy; however, her doctors are urging her to start chemotherapy as well.
While radiation therapy is still somewhat affordable, chemotherapy is even more expensive than the surgery was and well beyond the family's financial capabilities. For this reason, I must ask for your help again. Please support this Fundraiser, please help save Amira's life!
