My sister, Mariska, who has been a beacon of strength and resilience, has been hospitalized off and on for the past two years. Unfortunately, her health has taken a turn that means she will soon be transitioning to a long-term care facility, where she will receive the expert medical support she needs. It’s a difficult decision, but one that prioritizes her health and comfort.

As we navigate this heartbreaking transition, the reality is setting in that Mariska can no longer care for her wonderful daughter, Mariah. This sweet girl, my Booger, has already faced so much at her tender age, and now, as her primary support, it is my responsibility to ensure that she has a stable home and family environment. Therefore, I need to cover initial living expenses while also securing affordable housing in Charlotte, where Mariah can live with me after school ends. My goal is to create a warm and nurturing space where she can thrive despite the overwhelming circumstances.
