Hello! My name is Amanda Eastmond and I grew up in the SF Bay Area
surrounded by the 2.3 million acres of farmland and ranches that cover
The Bay's 3.6 million-acre greenbelt and I'd like to help give back to
those who work hard in the fields every day. I'm partnering with Flor
Martinez of The Celebration Nation Foundation in San Jose and hosting
an Usborne Books & More Book Drive for the children of our local
farm workers for Mother's Day!
This past year we have celebrated essential workers that have
kept us afloat and I hope to continue to do so by giving back to those
that serve us daily - working tirelessly through heat waves,
wildfires, smoke filled air, and the pandemic - our local farm
workers! Not once did they let us down, not once did we lack food, and
it is thanks to them that we have access to fresh fruits and veggies
every single day!
The Celebration Nation is an amazing organization that meets
Latino families in need with care and compassion and in 2020 alone
helped to provide 16K+ smoke/dust masks, 12K+ backpacks filled with
school supplies, 3K+ blankets, and over 2 thousand Thanksgiving Day
meals to families of farm workers through the hard work of community
volunteers and donations like yours!
Today your donation will allow us to provide brand new, fun and
educational books in English or Spanish to children across a wide
range of ages! I believe book ownership is extremely important and I
can't wait to shower these children and their families with love and
some amazing books!
I realize this year has been hard on everyone financially and
I'm only asking you to donate if you are able. However, NO donation is
too small! Thanks to the generosity of Usborne Books & More and
their commitment to match ALL of our donations by 50% once we reach
$250 - each donation goes even further!
Two ways to donate! 1) through this fundrazr link (2.9% + $0.30
deducted automatically from each donation by the site for processing
fees) or 2) through my Venmo (@mandajane) description: BOOKS! and I
will see that 100% of your donation goes directly towards buying the
books for the Mother's Day Book Drive.
As I've done in the past, I will post a receipt of the books
purchased with your donations, after I've placed the order, on both my
Facebook and Instagram.
We will be collecting donations for the Book Drive through
Tuesday April 27th!
