Hi, I am reaching out in hopes that someone can help us. My husband is currently in jail in the state of Oregon. Oregon does not allow bondsmen to operate in the state as the Oregon lawmakers think it is a more fair system to deal directly with the courts. However for those of us who do not have a nest egg or even a decent savings for that matter it does not help to deal with the courts. If bail bondsmen could operate in Oregon it would make it easier for those of us who struggle and live paycheck to paycheck to get our loved ones out of jail while waiting for the next court date. I am firm believe in the concept of innocent until proven guilty and if someone is not an immediate threat to the public then he or she should not have to sit in jail and be treated as if they are guilty when no there has not even been a trial. We are short of our bail amount by a substantial amount of 50k. I have also tried to reach out to charities that help with bail but unfortunately there are no charities that operate in Oregon for this purpose. There are charities for this purpose that operate in other states but they do not assist in Oregon. I realize this a lot to ask of anyone but I am hoping and praying that even if no one can help directly that maybe they know of some resources.
