Sridhar Kunduru hasn't added a story.
My name is Sridhar. I've been living in California all my life. I work and pay my bills and live day to day like every other person. I like where I live, been living in my neighborhood for about 7 years now. About a month and a half ago, the city started construction in my neighborhood. They've been tearing off the streets and replacing pipes. Day in, Day Out, nonstop drilling and other noises.
It's mostly sunny here, but it does rain like everywhere else. About two week ago, it rained like any other rainy day, except for the first time in all my years of living in my neighborhood, there was sewage backup in the basement of my house! I thought it was an issue with my sewer system, come to find out, many of my neighbors experienced the same thing. About 8 inches of sewage water all throughout my basement, so you can imagine all the nasties floating around. And this is the area my family and I spend the most time! We were devastated. My neighbors and I came to the conclusion that it must have something to do with the construction the city has been doing concerning the pipes. When we brought the issue up to the city, they basically told us that the issue wasn't caused by them, and that we are on our own. Many of us, were angry to say the least, but we began to pick up the pieces and move on with our lives. Insurance helped, but not by much.
Not even a week after that disaster, we noticed that the water pressure has been low. Then we noticed water pooling up on our front lawn. Come to find out, our fresh water pipe (in our relatively new house) was busted. It can't be a coincidence that the time the city decided to work on pipes our pipes busted. Instead of the water reaching us inside, it created a pool outside, and we didn't notice until it got bad. We had the city inspect, and they claim that since the pipe busted on our property, we have to fix it, and fix it fast or else they'll fine us. So, yet again they relieved themselves of any responsibility.
We are forced to cover everything out of pocket. And to be honest, we just don't have the money for all of this. No one ever expects a disaster, but two, back to back? It's a lot to handle. We decided that we really need help, and we are asking for donations. Please if you can help us out, we would really appreciate it. The money would be going towards, removing mold, caused by the sewer backup replacing our floor, replacing walls, painting, and replacing the large water pipes. We hope we can reach $11,000, and we are sure with your help we can.
Thank you,
Sridhar
