Money for Mo
Hello there!
My mom, Debbie, also known as Mo to her grandkids, is having double or triple bypass, open heart surgery, on November 19th, 2019.
My mother, if you know her, has never asked for anything from anyone in her life. Well, other than hugs, kisses and for us kids to always do our best.
She is the hardest worker I have ever met. She has worked so hard she literally had a stroke while sitting at her desk! Actually, it was two strokes!
While that set her back a bit, it did not stop her from pushing forward and living her best life. She has always been my rock, and the biggest reason my life has been so worthwhile.
She has taught me how to live and love without much money in my pocket. She has taught me the importance of forgiveness.
Watching her live her life on her terms, has taught me how to keep going with a smile on my face, always.
One of the things that I love most about her and learned from her, is to think about others, and to help those in need whenever possible.
Which leads me here….
My mom, whether you call her Mom, Mo-Mo, or Debbie, is going to be in need of help, for one of the very first times in her life.
She would never ask me to do this and she might not like that I have chosen to do so, but I am opening a fundraiser to help with her living expenses while she prepares for the surgery, stays in the hospital and ultimately, hopefully makes a full recovery.
I want to tell you a story that my mom once told me, about when she was young and really broke.
She went to a dozen or so people and borrowed 20 bucks off each of them. This was back in the early 80’s, so a few hundred dollars went a lot further, and our needs were met.
Needless to say, the woman was crowdsourcing, way ahead of her time, and long before Go Fund Me.
My point is that if my family has a dozen folks from each of our friends/work/families donate whatever they can afford to contribute, we can help meet her needs at this time.
I am very blessed to have a job that will allow me to be there for her during and after her surgery. I will be working from Akron through most of that time, and would love to be able to alleviate the financial burdens she will inevitably face. She will not be able to work for at least 2 months.
Please, if I have ever helped you, if she has ever helped you, or any of my family has reached out to help you, consider giving to my sweet, fierce, smart and beautiful mama. She deserves it more than anyone you will ever meet.
I know it is the start of the holiday season, and no one is independently wealthy in my circle, so I want you to know that I genuinely mean, even a few bucks would be so appreciated, and again, will add up over time and with enough shares.
Please consider giving to her cause, and also, please share this if you feel so inclined.
Sincerely and with so much love in my heart,
Debbie’s oldest daughter, Robin
P.S.
Patty, my mom’s long time partner will be in control of their finances and the recipient of any funds received.
