Help us help Jack, who we rescued from Slaughter after serving humans for 24 years! He will have a permanent home here, but we could really use the helo to speed up paying for vet bills.
Never let anyone with a heart go to a horse auction, unless you expect him/her to act. My spouse went to a horse auction to "see what horses were going for", and came back with 2 ponies amd an old man named "Jack", a 24 year old registered Fox Trotter. We paid $20 at auction to keep im from going to slaughter in Canada, which is where most of the horses that day went to. He is well on his way to recovery and gaining weight on a re-feeding program.
However, he has a lot of difficulty eating because his teeth need to be floated. For those who do not know horses, this is where a veteranarian, or equine dentist, files the sharp points that develop over time. These points are actually causing sores in his mouth, and make it imposible to grind hay with his teeth, which is vital to the digestive process for a horse. We have spent a fair amount on Equine Senior, grass hay, and deworming but need more money to pay for the floating and for vaccinations. I make enough, and have taken a second job to make sure we can take care of him for a long time. We are short on cash due to some "bad luck", and people that took advantage of us. I am also selling a few items to help cover Jack and his compadres extra expenses, but since we still owe a $400 vet bill it just won't be enough, as he needs this very soon to prevent further damage to his mouth and so he can enjoy eating hay again, though he loves his pellets and grain. Hay is necessary to keep a horses digestive system going.
We have rescued horses in the past as Carsley Horse Ranch, depending on my income as an RN. Due to health reasons, we had to find homes for a majority of the horses, and could not tak in any rescues as I can no longer work as a travel nurse. We are only asking for help for Jack and the 2 ponies, to pay the vet bills and I can contine to take care of them through my own income thereafter. The ponies I will put on a seperate page when/if we take care of Jack and if I cannot gather the money on my own, so your donation will go directly to help Jack, not our personal horses, bills, or anything else, ust Jack. The ponies are in good health so far, only needing feed and deworming (apparently they had not been touched in 2 years). The only thing they need is to be Gelded, as they are stallions, but will take care of that when we can as i is also expensive. I will post pictures and updates as we raise enough money, first for the dentisry, and then for vaccinations.
We are NOT, nor have we ever been non-profit. We are just a family who has the knwlege and experience to help horses.
