Who We Are

Hi everyone. I'm Angelo Racoma. I'm a technology writer and venture builder for tech startups and companies.

I have been writing about technology for 15 years, and you may have seen some of my work in digital publications such as e27, Nikkei Asian Review, and Performancing  (some of which are posted under other author names or as collaborative articles).

I consider myself a storyteller, and I weave human interest stories into many of my works.

I am also a single father of five. My youngest are aged 5 and 3, and every night they ask me to read or tell stories. I decided that it's time to share a story of my own with my young daughters and with the rest of the world.

I'm also a proud dad to Pia, who is an illustrator. She is starting her Architecture degree at University this semester, and she also plans to take up a Fine Arts programme.

One of Pia's interests is digital art. She has done commissioned works in digitizing people's profile pictures, characters, and other digital illustrations. Both of us are very fond of illustrated and animated works, including videogames, manga, anime, and animated series both for younger and more mature audiences.

Our Project

Pia and I are collaborating on an illustrated book for children and webcomic based on our pet cats and also on family life. Our first work is "Mommy is in Kitty Heaven," which deals with the loss of a parent.

We are no strangers to loss and grief that comes with losing a family member. In 2019, my wife Caren passed away after fighting cancer for two years. In 2007, my sonason Michael passed away due to SIDS at 45 days old.

We are dedicating this book to their memory.

We would also like to help children around the world try to deal with their grief, too--in the form of illustrated stories.

Since we are already developing the characters, we also plan to expand our universe of characters and stories both into children's books, as well as a webcomic series meant for a general audience. I have plans and manuscripts that deal with family topics, including diversity and other pressing concerns like the coronavirus pandemic.

We hope our humor, style, artwork, and perspectives can touch the lives of children and families around the world.

The book will be published digitally and through physical copies. The e-book will be distributed through e-commerce services like Amazon, while we are engaging a self-publishing platform for on-demand delivery of the physical book.

Oh, what's a "hamb" you may ask?

"Hamb" is slang for "cat" in the cat community. Our family has several chonky (fat) hambs, and we have a lot of funny stories about them.
