i'm sab, i'm an artist & writer making work using symbols
of abundance and growth to map the soul and cause you to lead your
life with love. Through my lived experiences, my ancestral memory, my
local environment, and visions of the unknown better future, I use my
work as an offering to the many communities I am gratefully a part of.
My apprenticeship
After 5 years of contemplation I finally began a tattoo apprenticeship in late 2017 and have fallen in love with all of its potential for my work and my communities. Now that I am in the final stages, I am asking for your help!
I hope to be tattooing by mid-may 2018. Summer is coming!!!
Melaninized, Queer, Femme in
the tattoo community
as a QPOC femme artist working independently for 5 years now,
there is a threshold to how I can disseminate my work, where
sustainability and accessibility can intersect -- however, tattooing
has found me many times inside this threshold; At the request of
strangers, friends, family and followers all alike, I have designed
over 50 tattoos for almost 5 years! I also have 11 tattoos done over
10 years, 9 of which were handpoked by my self; due to the lack of
spaces in the city that know how to deal with melanin as a pigment or
provide a comfortable vibe for femme-identified kin.
I am excited to be someone adding to the growing community of
tattoo artists mitigating the lack of consideration in the wider
field, and as an artist using the visual to adorn the body as it
exists thru space, just as a painting or drawing in a room. I am
committed to ensuring my work facilitates a safe space for all bodies,
all genders, all expressions within the IBPOC community and the
general patron community. Let's do this!
What this fundraiser will cover
This fundraiser will cover the basic equipment needed to begin my own practice, as well as utility & studio-apartment fees (from where i'll be operating) for one month as I develop and gain clients to eventually stabilize on my own!
With your help i'll be able to manifest the soul-mapping and adornment suited for anyone who needs it, and participate in a practice that has always been steeped in ritual & responsibility.

Bleeding Heart was drawn in 2013 and made a silkscreened poster soon after, however only one ever was made! 4-layers, metallic ink included, on stonehenge paper.
