Emily Haden hasn't added a story.
On 7/1 a call for acton was posted o Facebook by Shannon Nibarger Jordan regarding an injured dog in between the 710N and 405N freeways. I immediately drove out to the area and after about 20minutes of driving around with no luck, I spotted Abe. He was laying in the middle of a filthy and dangerous area between the on-ramps. He was frightened by me at first but couldnt resist the canned food and water. He is severely emaciated, dehyrated and infested with parasites. we estimate he is 7-yrs old. His right front limb is being favored and although he does put some weight on it, the limb is swollen and needs vet attention. The good news is that he is friendly, neutered and very grateful to be safe!
I had him scanned for a microchip, turns out he DOES have a chip, it was implanted 6 years ago in Boise, Idaho. The chip was not registered at all and so there is no way t trace who may ave been his humans. :( So, I have lovingly taken this boy in as one of my rescues. We scheduled a vet appointment for Thursday morning to do x-rays, blood work and anything else he needs. This is where your help is VITAL to Abe's well being!
When I got him home we immediately hit the showers! I lathered him up three times to get all the grime off of his skin and coat. Abe rather enjoyed his bath, being massaged and clean and doted on was perfectly fine by him! Upon bathing him, I realized just how extensive his tick infestation is. I gave him a big meal as wel as de-wormer and flea/tick medication, sub cutaneous fluids and a short walk for potty. Then started the tedious task of picking each tick off of him, careful to remove the entire parasite and fuly kill the nasty things. Abe is already feeling much much better. He loves to have his chin and ears pet and to lean on me. This boy is well on his way to being fully heathy and is ever so glad to be getting the care/love he deserves!
So many of you have been cheering him on and offering to contribute to his veterinary fund, Thank you very much! You can paypal the funds directly to me (emily@auntyemily.com) or donate with this fundrazr, or- call the donation directly into Primary Care Animal Hospital (account name Emily Haden) #562-274-7776. I will keep you ll posted on my Facebook page! THANK YOU! XOXOXO
