My recording studio is falling apart...
After a brush with death, a 2-week stint in hospital and the prospect of surgery ahead due to Crohn's Disease, I've decided I need to get stuck into a new project to keep my mind off things. As you may know, I've just finished my album "The Island" which will be out in a few months. But there won't be any more albums...because everything in my home recording studio is old and falling apart (sometimes it feels like me included!).
So I'm going to rebuild the recording studio from scratch, and record a whole new super-duper album with it. It will be my fourth studio album and it really feels like I am maturing now as a songwriter and artist, and putting out some substantial material. Of course, this will be an investment not only in my next album, but every album after that for as long as the equipment lasts.

The deadline is my 30th birthday on 10th November, and it would mean so much to me, and be the best birthday present ever, if you could help me fund the project by then.

This is one for the wannabe singers out there. When my new studio is up and running (hopefully by November 2014, if my campaign is successful), pick any three songs, and then come to my studio and I'll help you to record your voice alongside a backing track which I will provide. Same goes if you are a singer/songwriter and want to record 3 of your own songs (One lead vocal and one instrument; you need to be able to accompany yourself. I will include basic mixing and mastering, plus session files if you want them). You will get the resulting songs on a CD or a drive/memory stick if you bring one. You will need to travel to my home near Doncaster. It is not easily accessible by public transport. Friends/family can come on any mutually agreed day; people I don't know will need to come on a mutually agreed evening or weekend.

Want to try busking but daren't go on your own? Come to Doncaster and have a busking induction with me. I'll give you all the tips and advice, such as where to set up, what songs to choose, how to maximise your income, and how to stay safe and avoid being arrested. Then have a go! If you bring chord/lyric sheets I'll join in with my ukulele, or otherwise I'll just bang a tambourine or something so you aren't on your own! We can busk for as long as you want, and split any takings 50/50. Bear in mind if you just busk for half an hour, we might not make very much but at least you'll have had a go and hopefully feel more confident to go it alone next time.
