Help give freedom and hope to someone who is dedicated to helping others.
Help support two churches dedicated to building Maddie a large permanent wheelchair ramp at her home.
WHAT: Cornerstone Fellowship of Mill Run of Altoona and Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church of Monroeville, PA will be building a large wheel chair ramp at Maddie's home in Altoona, PA.
**Estimated Cost of Permanent Wheelchair Ramp: $1,695.97.
Extra finances will be needed to cover buidling permits, traction strips and ongoing maintenance such as water sealer and rock salt for the ramp.
WHEN: During the week of June 23-27th 2014
WHY: Our churches believe we need to show the love of Jesus Christ to others in recognition of the love Jesus Christ has already shown us by dying on the cross for our sins.
Backstory on Maddie: Maddie Letsche of Altoona, PA was a normal carefree teenager who was diagnosed with metastatic Thyroid cancer at the age of 16. Now almost 5 years later amazingly Maddie is in remission!! The cancer though, which had spread all throughout her body, along with several surgeries, multiple complications, infections, side effects from many different drugs, and years spend in and out of hospitals all over the country has taken quite a toll of Maddie's body.
As a result Maddie is now wheelchair bound and has a special feeding tube going directly into her stomach called a G-J feeding tube. (A G-J feeding tube has an extra extension on it bypassing her stomach and going directly into her small intenstines)
Maddie's Journey: Instead of allowing frustration, bitterness and anger to keep her and her family paralyzed and in despair they have taken these difficult experiences as motivation for helping others in similar situations. The result was Maddie's Journey.
For anyone who has a chronically ill child just figuring out how to afford gas, food and lodging alone during the hospital stays at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh which can last for months on end is a nearly impossible task for most any family. Knowing this all to well Maddie's journey has organized several fundraisers to help other families in similar situations to thier own with these hidden expenses.
They have raised thousands of dollars but more importantly it gave many sick boys and girls something much more valuable...HOPE. Even the local news station did a plug for a halloween fashion show Maddie's Journey organized last October. Check it out here.
Maddie Desperately Needs a Permanent Wheel Chair Ramp: While Maddie will never complain about it she remain confined to her home unless a 3 man team takes her down the 2 flights of cement steps with a small portable ramp that isn't made to support the weight of her power wheelchair just to get to the sidewalk outside her house!
Maddie's family can't afford to buy the materials and install a permanent ramp themselves.
This is where YOU come in: Give a one time tax deductible donation of $10, $20, $50, $100, $500 or whatever God tugs on your heart strings to give.
*All donations are secure via paypal. 100% of the donated amount goes directly toward buidling the wheelchair ramp. Any extra finances raised will go to Maddie's family.
