Faye Sharp was an amazing, inspirational, brave young girl and also my girlfriend. I was so proud to be part of her life and she brought the best out of me and i did my best to help her as much as i could. She was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphblastic Leukaemia) in August 2011. Sadly she passed away on the 28th of April 2014 not long after her 18th birthday which was on the 12th of March. She fought the disease for almost 3 years, which is pretty amazing i would say. Even through the hard times she was able to have a smile on her face, have a joke with anyone and always managed to throw a few cheeky jokes at her doctor on his visits in the morning and at night. She would always tell him when she had something on and his mission was to get her out for that date so she could make the party, meal or driving lesson to attend. Even to the end i could tell she was still fighting away trying to get her life back, Faye was always so positive and planned many things for her future, one was to go to China and was so determined to pass her drivng test which she put full effort in to all her lessons she would have definitely passed it with flying colours. She also had a real passion for cooking, which i also enjoyed cooking with her, the one thing she wanted to be the best in her house when she was older was the kitchen.

Even during her illness Faye had a real passion for helping others and did many fundraising events to raise money for her favourite charities which are very close-to-heart. I would like to carry on the fundraising for her and make her proud.

I'm running the Loch Ness Marathon on the 28th of september to raise money for Grampian Research in Leukaemia, this is Faye's doctor's (Dr King) charity. He has a lab at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for research of his own. I have chosen this charity as it would have been Faye's choice, Dr King has helped Faye so much over the period of her illness in trying to get her better and keep her well, he has also helped support the whole family in many ways. I think it's only right that we try to repay him in sme sort of way. This way we will be helping many others going through the same as which Faye was going through.
