Update from 1/9/15, From Eric Brady, Travis' Business Partner:
Next Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of Travis' passing, and for those of you who knew him, I'm sure you've already thought about how it will be a very difficult time, even more so than normal. Because Travis was such a great influence on his friends and family, the anniversary of this day will bring up a wide range of emotions. While there already isn't one day that goes by that I don't think about what Travis would be doing, let us all try our best to celebrate all the positive experiences and good times we remember having with him this Wednesday, as his smile will help us get through this day that much easier.
Since taking over the helm of Travis' third greatest accomplishment (the first two being his marriage to Ashley and his beautiful son Lincoln), I have focused on running Windian Records as well as he would have, which is an incredibly busy and daunting task, to say the least.
I have not used this FundRazr page for updates, and for that I am sorry. While many of you follow Windian Records via our Mailing List (http://www.windianrecords.com/list/) and Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/windianrecords/), some of you may be family friends who aren't that interested in the label, so I apologize if I have left you out of any announcements. Since I lose the ability to send out updates if I close out this FundRazr page, I will leave it open and remember to use it for more regular updates in regards to Travis' legacy.
We have many plans for dedications, events, and possibly even a music-based non-profit, so I will make updates here as they occur. Please keep Travis in your hearts and your memories, and don't forget to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Celebrate his legacy, and as he said...
"WORK HARD, STAY FOCUSED, AND EARN EVERYTHING"
Update from 1/17/14, From Ashley Jackson, Travis' Wife:
"It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I write this. My husband Travis passed away yesterday, for those who do not already know, though I think most do. He was at work when he was struck by a car. That is all I know, I am trying to avoid the details.
I am devastated by this loss to our family. My heart is broken
for Travis and for our son Lincoln. Travis loved him so much. He was
his pride and joy, and becoming a father meant the world to him. I
intend to do my best to raise Link the way I know Travis would have
wanted. He will always have a drum set. We will watch the Bills games
together. He will know who his father was.
Travis was a sweet man with a good heart and he loved his
family. He loved music. He loved rock and roll. Windian was his life,
and his passion. He built it from nothing. It was a family business,
and I have felt the support of the Windian family.
I don’t know how to express how grateful I am for the outpouring
of love we have received. I haven’t yet read all the messages and
posts, but I will, and we are blessed for all of them. I wish he could
see how many people loved him. I think he can."
Travis' Fundrazr:
As many of you know, Travis Jackson, father, husband, musician, and founder of DC's Windian Records, was killed in a work accident last night off of Suitland Parkway in DC; he leaves behind his wife Ashley and their 1-year old son, Link (named for Link Wray, as he'd be happy to tell you!)
Many of you know Travis from his years as the drummer in the Points, or maybe he helped book your band in DC as he often did, in return for nothing but the friends it created. Most of you have probably ordered a record or three from Windian Records, the label that he ran almost single-handedly for three years that earned accolades and fought to keep DC in the spotlight.
There has been an awesome outpouring of support from friends and fans alike, and the DC media has offering excellent support as well. That is why Windian Records is setting up this fund while Travis' passing is fresh in everyone's memory; while none of us can know what his wife Ashley and his son Link are going through, we can reach out to help through this tough time.
Every dollar helps and will Keep Travis' legacy alive. The reason he did what he did was because he cared deeply about others, so your support shows that you do the same.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Where are the funds going, and what are they for?
Every penny earned will go directly to Travis' family; they will get to decide what to do with the money. This site was set up for them only.
Can I send a check or donate in some other way?
Yes, of course. Anything you can offer for support, even if it isn't financial, is greatly appreciated. Please reach out to info@windianrecords.com and we will be able to direct you.
