Formerly 8L at JRC a HIGH KILL- Heart stick facility….is now Olive, a 2 yr old American Bull Dog mix .… but her struggles are not over… getting out was the easy part! It was certain death if she had not been pulled… but the poor girl has tested positive for heartworm. To complicate things further…Olive is PREGNANT and expected to have 6-8 puppies before New Years!
She has not caught a break from this world: she was malnourished and skinny when she got to rabies control, she had a forever home all arranged but they just never showed up to get her, she tested positive for heartworms, and she is getting ready to have her second litter of puppies despite being barely 2 yrs old herself.
One can only imagine the heartache and despair she experienced before she ever arrived at Rabies Control with scares and scratches. Regardless she is as sweet and kind as she could be…full of kisses and wiggles her whole body when she wags her tail! Pure white except a brindle spot around her eye she looks like chance from the movie Homeward Bound.
Named after the pullers grandmother who had died the day Olive was rescued, Olive has now found a very nice foster mom who was not expecting an expecting dog over the holidays!! Her foster mommy has made sure Olive has gotten all her shots, put Olive on a special diet to get healthy and put on some weight before she has her babies. Her foster mommy has taking Olive to the vet to monitor her pregnancy and her Heartworms but now Olive has run out money and at the worst time!
We are trying to raise at least $450 to help cover the cost of the impending birth, vet checking puppies, puppies 1st shots, spaying Olive as soon as she regains her strength and is no longer nursing, and to treat Olive's Heartworms. Our ultimate goal is $650.
Olive’s foster mommy has graciously agreed to take care of Olive and her babies. Because her foster was not expecting Olive for more then a few days and definitely not for a few months with babies on board...Remaining money raised will be used to buy food, bedding, any other expenses along with a small pen to allow a safe place for Olive to have her babies and stay with them away from other fostered dogs.
