This is Greg. To look at him, u would think he's a senior. When u hear all of what he's battling - u will understand why u think that. But he's not. He is only 3.

When Greg, a Wheaten Terrier mix, arrived at the Vance County Animal Shelter as a stray, he was full of intestinal worms, tested positive for Ehrlichiosis, and tested positive for heartworms. Xrays showed an old fracture in one of his legs and, as a result, he walks with a limp. He is withdrawn and shows no interest in other dogs or even people. He is beyond scared and cringes from human touch. The closest they get is him taking small bits of food from an open hand.

He is the epitome of abandonment and neglect. No wonder he cringes.

He was next in line to die, as his hold was up. I am sickened to think that his last moments on this earth would have ended with pain and fear. Just like his life.

This picture and story was crossposted over and over.  From that, a foster was found.  People came forward willing to donate.  Prayers, good thoughts, and positive vibes were sent up by the hundreds.  And now....Greg is safe. He is going to be put on the Ride to Freedom transport this upcoming Saturday.  But his journey to that better life we all want so much for him doesn't end with a ticket out of the shelter.

He is in desperate need of medical care.  Not only to see if he is cured from intestinal worms and Erhliciosis. And not only to find out what the extent of that injured leg is all about.  But because he has the "mark of the South" - heartworm.

Help us help him.

Any amount - be it $5 or $50 will help us provide the care he needs.  Without the generosity and support of all of you, we can do very little.  His total care will be expensive, as he will need vaccines, medications, repeat bloodwork, xrays, neutering, microchipping....and anything else he needs.

If u can't donate, then help us spread his story.

Let's finally give him the life he's never had...but absolutely deserves <3
