I would like everyone to be aware of what's happening in the Princeton City School District. If you don't already know, Princeton is no longer the almighty financial powerhouse it was when we were there. The State of Ohio has made massive cuts into the budget. The "Princeton Advantage" that we all enjoyed is now in jeopardy. So, it must be preserved from alternative sources.

Follow me here...years ago a teacher was hired at Princeton when no other school district was willing to take a chance. This teacher was wheel chair bound with no feeling below the waist. Princeton gave him a chance and jump started his career. A few years later he moved on to have a successful career in education. A few years ago, this teacher passed away. In his will, he left a large sum of money to the Princeton School District specifically for the purposes of starting a Foundation...to maintain the "Princeton advantage." Thereafter, The Princeton Education Foundation was born. All funds are directed toward the benefit of the students in the Princeton City School District. About a year ago, I was elected as Trustee of the Foundation. A major initiative is to bring back the alumni. On October 19th, we presented the very first Alumni awards banquet, recognizing some of our most distinguished alum. Its amazing how many incredibly successful people have degrees from PHS. At the banquet, the class of 1983 donated $1983 to the Foundation and challenged every class to do the same. A graduate of the class of 1991 put a matching challenge out to every class up to $5000. Other classes are jumping in.

Folks, without a doubt, if there's one thing I remember about our class is the incredible amount of pride we had for our school. Viking Pride is as strong as ever. On February 28th, The Foundation will be hosting its Princeton Pride Gala. We expect 500-600 people at the event. The event will consist of gambling, silent auction, live auction, music, dancing, dinner, and of course drinks! In addition, at this event each class will present their respective checks. Our goal is to get one hundred 1989 graduates at the event to present a check for $1989. Your donation goes a long way!  Let's make it happen!
