I've been a CG resident for 25+ years and to be honest with you, I've often wondered what would happen if I or someone I know were to get injured on the island.  I have an 8 year old son, I have friends in their 90's and everything in-beween.  Until this past summer when the lack of a solid infrastructure was sadly apparent, I chose to ignore the issue.  It was a harsh wake-up call to all of us.

In an effort to have a viable working EMS  “Emergency Medical Service” system in place in Cherry Grove for the 2014 season, we need to raise $60,000--$40,000 to pay for the EMS paramedic and housing for the season and $20,000 as a one time fee for a Fast Response Transport Vehicle. This will give the Cherry Grove Community a uniformed Paramedic from mid May through end of September 2014.  (  It appears that the best way to handle this on an ongoing basis is to establish a tax district for EMS. The Cherry Grove Property Owners Association “CGPOA” and the EMS committee will be working through this process with the Town of Brookhaven, but it will take time to get it done. Certainly not in time to fund this program for the 2014 season)

Additionally, this will not, in any way be a conflict with the Doctor's is the difference between going to the doctor's office and calling 911 for an emergency.

The funds will be collected by Cherry Grove Community Association Inc. “CGCAI” and are tax deductible. This fundraiser is set up specifically for this purpose, so all monies donated through this fund will be designated for EMS Service for 2014. If you prefer to send a check, send it to Cherry Grove Community Association Inc, 145 West 45th Street, Suite #300, New York, NY 10036... make the check payable to CGCAI but be sure to put "EMS" in the memo line at the bottom of your check. “All expenses associated with the Cherry Grove CAC Service will be covered by revenues raised through this specific CAC fundraising effort. The CGCAI will collect voluntary contributions and deposit them into a separate, designated account established solely for the CG CAC service. CGCAI will issue CAC expense payments from this account.

The sooner we can give the EMS service a " go ahead" for the 2014 season, the sooner we can have a Paramedic responding to 911 calls for medical emergencies in Cherry Grove and housing can be set, please donate now so we can have everything in place as we head into the new year!

As I've done with the Sandy fundrazr last year, I will make this one completely transparent.  I'll leave it open for donations until the end of November.  At that time I'll give a a list of all the donors to CGCAI so they can supply donation letters for tax purposes.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to drop me a line.  THANK YOU in advance!

PLEASE NOTE:  Another way you can contribute is by buying a raffle ticket to the event we're haing on 12/7.  The prizes are AMAZING!  Go here for more info!
