Vampire Kitty is a stray, male kitten that wandered up to our house a few months ago. When he first approached, I caught him, and he promptly bit me (poor, scared little thing), so he was dubbed "Vampire Kitty."
Vampire Kitty is a stray, male kitten that wandered up to our house a few months ago. When he first approached, I caught him, and he promptly bit me (poor, scared little thing), so he was dubbed "Vampire Kitty." He is scared of most people, but is friendly with both my cat and my dog. He usually runs if a person approaches him, but has let me pet him a few times, if I catch him while he's eating. He has not shown any aggression, since that first instance.

On Thursday, September 12th, I found Vampire Kitty laying under a bush, near my front porch, with an injured leg. I picked him up and brought him inside. He is unable to walk, but will eat and drink with assistance. I took him to the vet, who examined him and proclaimed his right, rear leg to be broken. His estimate for treatment (x-rays, surgery, anesthesia, medication, etc.) was $725.00. He let me know that this is just an estimate, and that is could cost more, depending on the severity of the break, and the difficulty of the surgery.

A local network of women pulled together for VK's cause, and he is scheduled to have surgery, in Jacksonville, on Monday, for a fraction of the cost that I was quoted locally. The clinic there can do the surgery for around $200, including neutering him & giving him his shots.

Vampire Kitty is currently on pain medication, and is being hand-fed and babied. I have set our fundraising goal at $400, to allow for unforeseen costs, and to include the cost of gas for the transporter.
