Kevin Bauereis is a hometown hero who has spent his life fighting Cystic Fibrosis and striving to be a role model for others struggling with the disease. In 2012, Kevin was placed on the lung transplant list due to worsening lung function, where he and his family have been waiting for their chance at new lungs for nearly a year.

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system, where excessive mucus build-up can lead to difficulty breathing and severe lung disease. Despite promising research in the field, the average life-span for a person with CF remains a mere 36 years old, and lung transplantation is the only treatment option available for patients, like Kevin, with end-stage lung disease.

Over the years, Kevin's struggle with this disease has lead to countless hospitalizations and an intense amount of daily care. Despite this, Kevin has never given up on pursuing his dream of becoming a physician, and is now a resident in Anesthesiology at the University of Kentucky. In addition to following his own dreams, Kevin strives to be a mentor to other CF sufferers, and he and his wife, Kara, actively raise money and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Kevin and his family have been an inspiration to the community with their strength, faith and positivity during this trying time. Now is our chance to give back!

On Sunday, May 12th, we are hosting a raffle and silent auction to raise money for Kevin and his wife in order to help financially during this difficult time. All of the money raised will help the family cover their daunting medical bills and expenses. Please consider donating to this wonderful couple, along with keeping them in your prayers.
