Dear Friends, As many of you may have heard by now Jay (Jihad Milhem) was in a bike accident just about two weeks ago and it has had a profound effect on his life. Jay physically suffered a fractured Jaw, cracked molars and stitches in his chin and lots of scrapes. He now has had to have his Jaw wired shut until July 25 and suffers a good deal of pain. All of these things will heal and thankfully he was wearing a helmet. HOWEVER Jay has suffered more then just the physical. Because he had no health insurance ( as many young actors/artists in philly) he is facing $6,000-$9,000 in medical bills and since he can no longer talk for the next 6-8 weeks he has had to be replaced in the Azuka young professional show Hazard County for which he had been in previews for at the time of his accident and can not perform his duties as a part-time interpreter at the National Constitution Center. He has no way of generating income and will suffer a loss of $1,260 in wages. So all in all about $10,000. Jay has been very proactive and gotten forms for medical assist, negotiated with the hospital for a reduced bill, acquired dental insurance and is doing whatever he can to help pay his rent and bills. He is not the kind of guy who is just sitting back and doing nothing to fix his situation. Jay is a honest, hard working , talented and all around great person. He also has a lot of pride and will never ask for help from his friends. So I am asking instead. Jay needs our help. ANY help we can offer will make a world of difference. I am asking each of you to consider donating even just a few dollars. I know many of us don't have much ourselves but it is the community spirit and support in this fine city, the wonderful people Jay works with in and out of the museum and theatre world that inspires me to ask. I am starting the Fund for Jay by depositing $100 myself. Please think about $1, $5, $10 or more. You can give in two ways: 1. Use this link to contribute on line. 2.If you are in the area bring me a check or cash at my office at the National Constitution Center. Every person who donates will be listed (without amounts) in a card with the funds that I will present to Jay Monday July 2. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to make suggestions on any other ways to raise funds for Jay. Thank you for reading this and considering contributing to help Jay. -Nora Quinn
