Be blessed to greatly contribute to fighting climate change and its impact on humanity and change the lives of poor communities and refugees in a poor country

Mugombwa Sector of Gisagara District in Rwanda, Africa, has been known to experience environmental and population problems that, like many places in Rwanda, resulted in poor people, low rates of children going to school, malnourished and stunted children, unhealthy people, etc. This is exacerbated by refugees from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that also made the environment stressed by deforestation due to wood and firewood fetching and overcrowding the tiny markets at the place and nearby locations. As a result, arable soil is washed away, land slides, erosion, infertility, etc. are crippling the environment, and this greatly contributes to the general impoverishment of the people of the place.

The Tree Planting project was thought of as a marvelous means to deal with many issues at the same time. It will definitely greatly contribute in Climate change issues, Landscape Restoration & Forestry, Carbon Sequestration, Biodiversity conservation, etc. It will alleviate and mitigate environmental stressors that are associated with refugees' survival mechanisms. The project also contributes to social development, poverty alleviation and fighting hunger and malnutrition by employing some lower-scale people. It also contributes to the socioeconomic well-being of refugees in Mugombwa refugee camp in Gisagara District.

So far, I have secured about 20 hectares of land and I have started planting trees. Some trees are at a very important stage. About 50,000 trees have been planted. I am targeting 200 hectares with at least 500,000 trees. Once fully implemented, the project is expected to be sustainable without continuing to rely on external funds. It is expected to continue financing itself while improving the well-being of people in the region. Several activities linked with tree and forest maintenance such as beekeeping, tree replacement, tree nurseries, manure and organic fertilizer making, erosion control mechanisms, etc., will be organized. These activities will be being financed by the money that will be coming from gradual mature tree harvesting and other related activities. Harvested trees will be being replaced immediately so that the trees and forest sustainably remain healthy. To be fully implemented, the project needs One Million US Dollars (1,000,000 USD).

There will be a well-kept and well-presented record of donors and supporters for this noble cause, who will be being invited in the country of a thousand hills to witness the results of their kindness and philanthropic actions. They will be given opportunities to address the communities/beneficiaries for their recognition and get different prizes.
