Hello everyone. My name is Karolis and I have a story to share with
you... As soon as I was born my trouble started. As many babies, I was
put into a incubator. That's where it all started. My birth had some
minor complications and as soon as the doctors decided to place me
into that machine, they have made a mistake because the dry hot air
damaged my eyes. At first nobody knew if anything was wrong buy after
few weeks doctors noticed that something was wrong with my eyes... (it
was their fault and mistakes that led to this). Immediately numerous
surgeries were performed on me and not only it did not help. It had
many complications... I am 25 years old and by this time my peripheral
vision is very bad and my overall vision is 0.2 out of 1... so it kind
of means that I'm almost blind. After tens of operations throughout
the years my eye's nerves were weakened and right now I have many
conditions - illnesses such as cataract, astigmatism, glaucoma...
Right now in my own country the medicine and the doctors cannot help
me at all. Recently I've took an laser surgery and it made things even
worse... Life is hard because I cannot drive a vehicle, I can barely
see the number of a public transportation... I had several jobs but
all of them required good eyesight... all of job do kind to think of
it... The government of my country does not provide enough financial
support even for everyday living... Over the years I've managed to
finish high school. Graduate my bachelor's degree in political science
and got a free tuition for journalism master's degree because of my
accomplishments. But as I've mentioned, my eyesight is getting worse
year by year and when I go for a regular checkup, doctors usually say
"oh what a poor young man, these conditions at your age..."
but there might be a way for me to at least try to cure or stop my
eyesight from diminishing by going abroad and seeking consultation of
other - more qualified doctors. By some help of my relatives who live
in the U.s I've found out that there might be a way to do some
surgeries to help me out but my medical record translation would cost
a fortune not even speaking about payment of the surgeries and
consultations abroad... I have never looked down on any person, no
matter what he or she is was or will be... I've always volunteered to
help those in need... I have always given my last cemt or a piece of
pie or some food in my backpack to a homeless person... they need it
more than me... But now I am asking you... People from all around the
world... For a chance to live my life where I could see the smiles of
people that I love, that loves me and of the ones who's smiles have
been brought by me...
My plans are to pay to a notarized medical
document translator to translate my records into English - Latin
languages and then by the help of my relatives in the U.S I will seek
out the best specialists for consultation and possibly a surgery or few...
