Hi everyone, my name is Semra Hasanbegovic.
I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina in small city Banovici. Few last
years I'm trying to help our local street cats along with my 'partner
in crime' my dear friend Anela Pestalic Modric. We have a huge cat
mission, please read it.
Two months ago we rescued 40 cats from
therrible hoarding situation here in Bosnia. Cats were locked in two
rooms without any daylight for 6 long years. They interbreed, kittens
died all the time, without any veterinarian help, they didn't have
litter, they just lived in their feces... The hoarder preferred males,
so females were occasionally fed. A words can't describe what horror
these cats went trough. No one deserves that torture!
Brighter
side of this story is that cats are at safe place now. We took them
with us and rented small place for them in our city. In first couple
of days few cats had miscarriages, two of them gave birth, so we have
five cute kittens now. Almost all of them had upper respiratory
infection, skin diseases, they were full of internal parasites...
weak immune systems! After two month they aren't afraid any more. They
are in clean environment, they have toys, clean water and food every
day. We gained their trust, and discovered that they are very playful
furrballs. Since it is very hard to keep this mission going we have
to ask for your help. It is very hard to find any help here in Bosnia
since population is very poor or they just hate animals! We need help
from all catlovers, help us to help them! They need wet food, (almost
all of them are toothless due to their age and bad nutrition), kitten
dry food, antiparasite treatments, cat beds, cat trees,
transporters...we have nothing but love. Also we have monthly costs
for rent, vet bills - we have to neuter them all eventually...
It
isn't easy, but our mission is special and we don't want to give up.
