After moving to New York in November of 2016 in search of a bright future and dual citizenship for her son, everything that could possibly go wrong did – a dream turned into a living nightmare. The housing they were promised didn’t work out as planned. Instead Isabella and her son had to live with an abusive family in East Harlem for 9 months. While she wasn’t allowed to make friends, she finally found a new place in Bronx where she could stay. Living out of a living room, Isabella soon found herself in a similar terrifying situation where both she and her dogs are being threatened almost daily.
Even worse, her son has begun to show signs of stress and being unhappy. School is the only place where he feels somewhat safe and can get some additional support.
In early 2018 Isabella decided that the only sensible solution was to move back home to Sweden once her son finishes school in June. Trouble is, while being a single mom with a son, two dogs, and only part-time jobs; her financial situation is severely strained.
She is seeing a psychologist (when she can afford him), to help her deal with the effects and terrors of mental abuse. Her son has unpaid medical bills and her puppy was attacked by a large mix-breed, which resulted in veterinary costs – forcing her to take new loans from friends back in Sweden.
Isabella is a loving and caring mother, a trained nurse, and a certified dog trainer. Dogs are one of her greatest passions and they help her deal with the overwhelming stress of her situation.
